INTOXICATED RIDER
Motor-cyclist Fined Samuel Stanley Bethridge. wire worker, aged 25, admitted in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday being intoxicated in charge of a motorcycle in Vivian Street on Saturday. Sub-Insepetor J. Dempsey said Bethridge was found at 6.15 n.m. attempting to start his machine. The certificate of a doctor who examined him later was submitted to the magistrate. On Bethridge’s behalf it was explained that he had. met some friends from Christchurch. whence he had come to work in Wellington, and bad some drinks with them, mixing them through ignorance. Remarking that the case was rather different from the ordinary case, Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., fined Bethridge £5 and costs and ordered the cancellation of hisdriviug licence for nine months.
