INFECTIOUS DISEASES
For the week ended yesterday 52 cases of infectious disease and four deaths (two from tuberculosis and one each from poliomelitfe and bacillary dysentery) were reported to the Wellington office of the Health Department. In the Wanganui-Horowhenua area seven cases of poliomyelitis were reported: in Wairarapa-Hawkes Bay, eight: in Central Wellington, 11; and in Nelson-Marlborough, one. Two cases each of scarlet fever and diphtheria, three of tuberculosis, and one of hydatids were reported in the WanganuiHorowhenua area; in WairarapaHawke’s Bay. one each of puerperal fever and bacillary dysentery: in Central Wellington, six of scarlet fever, one of enteric fever and three of tuberculosis: and in Nelson-Marlborough, one each of tuberculosis and scarlet fever.
