STALKERS BUSHED

Two Men and a Boy Spend Night in Open UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE Dominion Special Service. Mastciton, April 19. .Sunday night was bitterly cold, and spending a night on the southern side of Bull Hill, some 11 miles south of Martiuborough was not a pleasant experience. The three who suffered this misfortune were Mr. G. Woods, contractor, of Wellington, his 13-year-old sou, and Mr. Maurice Fox, aged 21, of I’etone. The party were doer-stalking and had driven up from Wellington accompanied by .Mrs. Woods and her two children. The stalkers went, into the bush about 7 a.m. on Sunday, telling the others that they would be back about 4 p.tn. However, they became bushed and decided to spend the night in the open. They lit a tire and sat round it all night to keep out tbe cold. Tins morning they got their bearings, and after an eight-hour tramp came out little the worse for their experience. Mrs. Woods and her children were also placed in an awkward predicament for, as none of them could drive the motor-car, and as no homestead was visible, they had to sleep the night in the car. In the morning they walked to Martinborough police station to explain their plight. Mr. Fox’s father and another man, becoming alarmed at the stalkers’ absence, motored from Wellington to Martinborough this morning and three search parties were organised to search the locality. One of them encountered the stalkers at the edge of tbe bush this afternoon. The last search party returned to Martinborough at 5.30 p.m.
