PRISON SENTENCES
Variations Made by Court of Appeal Applications by prisoners for reductions in sentences imposed upon them in the Supreme Court were disposed of by the Court of Appeal at Wellington yesterday. Variations were made in the following cases: — George Alexander Dunnage, labourer, aged 26, two years’ hard labour and declared an habitual criminal for breaking and entering and theft, theft, and mischief at Napier—order declaring him an habitual criminal cancelled. Malcolm Victor Smith, labourer and hotel porter, aged 28, three years’ hard labour for theft as a servant at Palmerston North —sentence reduced to three years’ reformative detention. Stanley Wiuwood McKissick Reid, bricklayer, aged 32. seven years' reformative detention for assault with intent Io commit rape at Wellington—sentence reduced to five years’ reformative detention.
