NEW GOVERNMENT OFFICE SITE
Compensation Awarded J. E. BUTLER, LTD., AND WELLESLEY CLUB The former owners of property taken by the Government for its new office building facing Stout and Ballance Streets, Wellington, John Edward Butler, Ltd., and the Wellesley Club, were awarded £27,924/5/7 and £12,307/7/4 respectively by the Compensation Court yesterday. The firm had claimed £41,00t) and the club £17,970/7/6 from the Minister of Public Works, under the Public Works Act, 1928. The actions were heard last week before Mr. Justice Reed and two assessors, the Hon. Sir Charles Statham and Mr. H. E. Leighton. Mr. L. K. Wilson appeared for J. E. Butler, Ltd., and the Hon. W. Perry for the Wellesley Chib. The Crown in both cases was represented by Mr. A. E. Currie and Mr. N. A. Foden.
