CHASE BY G-MEN
American Bank Robbery (Received April IS, G. 30 p.m.) New York, April 17. A message from Topeka, Kansas, states that a G-man was critically wounded and a bystander injured in an attempt to arrest a suspected bank robber. A police agent, Baker, and three associates, trailed three suspects to Topeka and for several days waited at the registry window of the post office in the expectation that the robber would appear to claim a package. The suspect finally arrived and a postal clerk signalled to Baker, who ordered him to surrender. The accomplice of the suspect, who was in the background, opened fire, hitting Baker four times. G-men then returned the fire, lint the robbers escaped through a side door and tied in their own motor-car. The robbers were captured by a sheriff and one deputy at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, after the motor-car had struck a deep hole in the street, and almost overturned. The oflicers, who had been following (he robbers for 10 miles, drew their guns and commanded them to surrender. The men were .handcuffed without resistance
