NOT AN ANGEL
Trotsky Admits Having Lied to Commission (Received April 18, 7.30 p.m.) Mexico City, April 18. Mr. Carleton Beals, the noted author, who is a member of the commission of the Americas inquiring into the Soviet charges against M. Leon Trotsky, has resigned because, he says, the committee is not conducting a truly serious investigation. M. Trotsky, in a fiery statement, said this was an effort to prevent him unmasking judicial crimes in Moscow. Trotsky, during the day’s proceedings, admitted having lied concerning Lenin’s last testament. He added “The commission should not consider me an angel.”
