Mr. L. Steiner’s Visit In continuance of his two months’ tour of New Zealand, .Mr. Lajos Steiner, chess champion of Hungary and one of the leading chess masters of Europe, is to begin his Wellington week at 6 o'clock this evening, will) a simultaneous display in the Gas Company building. Courtenay Place. The clubs visited to date are Gisborne, Napier. Hastings, Wairarapa, Canterbury and Otago, and in each centre members have expressed pleasure with Mr. Steiner’s modest demeanour, to say nothing of the excellence of his play and the valuable information, or rather instruction, gained from his lectures. As mentioned in an advertisement in another column. Mr. Steiner is to give three lectures and three simultaneous displays during his stay in Wellington. A small fee is being charged by the local executive > it has fi> meet a minimum guarantee of £2O in connection with the visit of this distinguiched chess master.
