BIG DAMAGES SUIT AGAINST ZOO
Apes Eject Visitors From Monkey House MEMBERS OF FAMILY SEEK 75,000 DOLLARS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received April 16, 8.55 p.m.) New York, April 16. Mendel Picket, Mrs. Picket and their son Charles, aged 15, have filed ajsuit in the State Supreme Court for 75,000 dollars damages against the Bronx Zoological Park for injuries and indignities suffered in .lune, 1935, when the gorilla Janet and the chimpanzee Ellon forcibly ejected them from the monkey-house. They alleged that the apes, near closing time, suddenly appeared among the spectators. Charles was attempting to make an exit when Janet seized him and hurled him out violently, breaking his toe, which was later amputated'. Ellen put Mrs. Picket out, warding off attempts by her husband to interfere. The wife fainted.
