Mystery
The shadow of a gull’s wing on the water, And wind among the cloud-banks’ lazy foam, And April beckons to old Summer’s daughter
To seek the fastness of her island home. Gold sands where lie the rainbow shells unbroken, Dull seaweeds twining in a mystic crown; And April brings her child, the halfawoken— Young Autumn on a gull’s wing drifting down. —Anne Morton.
