Sharp Advance in G. J. Coles
MARKETS FIRMER
An outstanding feature of yesterday’s markets was a sharp advance m b. J. Coles, which had sold on • edneedav at 98/0 and on Thursday at 99/6 to 99/9. Business was done in .Auckland yesterday at £5/2/-, and on the Wellington Stock Exchange at the late call there were buyers in at £5/8/-, sellers asking £5/9/-. Last month G. J. Coles reached the high level of £5/11/9, but following the announcement of the final dividend, making the year’s distribution 121 per cent., the shares eased rapidly. On the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday the markets showed an improved tone, with a slight firming in a number of issues. Bank of New Zealands advanced to sales at 45/41 and 45/3. Electrolytic Zincs and Mount Lyells displayed a hardening tendency and Broken Mill Proprietary were steadier. Sales recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday were as follows :— .
