IMPROVEMENTS TO BEACH

Waikanae Progressive Association At the annual meeting of the Waikanae Beach Progressive and Ratepayers’ Association, presided over by Mr. F. Martyn Renner, it was reported that over 50 per cent, of the residents of the district were financial members. The projects of the association, it was stated, were to obtain an adequate water supply and to make the beach more attractive by such works as improving street lighting and tar-sealing the roads. Through the generosity of Mr. W. 11. Field, who had given one and a half acres of land to the association for tennis courts, croquet lawns, and bowling greens, the district would be provided with valuable attractions for residents and visitors.
