No Unemployed Boys on Register

POSITION AT Y.M.C.A

Professional Boxing Match. An early start with activities is to bo made by the Hutt Valley Boxing Association. The first professional match of the season has been arranged for April 26 in the Labour Hall. Pel one. The contestants matched are Stan Smith, a fast, clean-hitting 'Wellington boy, and Glengarry, also of Wellington, who will make his debut in the cash ranks. So as to give the selectors an idea of the material offering in the various grades a series of trial games will be played by members of the Petone Rugby Football Club to-morrow. The games will be played on the recreation ground and North Park. The senior, junior and third grade trials will start at 3 p.m., and will be preceded by trials for fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grade players. Lease of Hall for Scouts. An application from the St. Augustine Boy Scout troop for a renewal of the lease of the section of land on which the scout hall stands was received by the Petone Borough Council last night. The matter was referred to the reserves committee. It was pointed out that the lease was renewable for a further period of ten years, subject to the land not being required for other purposes. Health Camp Appeal.

A circular containing an appeal by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, for co-operation in an effort to raise funds for the establishment of a national memorial to the late King George V, came before a meeting of the Petone Borough Council last night. The letter explained that it was proposed the memorial should take the form of permanent health camps. The mayor, Mr. A. Scholefield, announced his intention of convening a public meeting for Wednesday, April 14, to deal with the matter.
