DUKE OF WINDSOR’S PORTRAIT
Removal Suggested Cries of "Shame” ami “No, No” greeted a proposal that came before the civic building committee of Cardiff Corporation I bat. a portrait of Edward VIII, painted while lie was Prince of Wales, should be removed from tbe Lord Mayor’s Parlour and replaced by portraits of the King and Queen. The King and Queen are to visit. Cardiff in July and it was suggested that their portraits should occupy a prominent place in the parlour.
Councillor Beecher said : “'The exKing’s portrait should remain where if, is if only to mark our recognition of his 25 years of wonderful service.” It was decided to ask for more information about the proposed substitution.
The proposal to move the picture was contained in a. letter to the committee from the Lord Mayor’s secretary.
