Preliminary railway returns for 1936 show'that the gross receipts from railway working during the year amounted to approximately £164,090,000, and the net revenue from all sources was apprpximatelv £36.500,000, compared with’ £32,700.000 and £32,300.000 in 1935 and 1934 respectively. The approximate number of passenger journeys was 1.256,639.000. compared with 1,231,157,433 and 1,199,961.976 in 1935 and 1934 respectively, while the total tonnage of goods and mineral traffic con-Zjyed was approximatelv 280,798,000, compared with 270,877,672 and 270.020,828 in the two preceding years.
