TABLE MAT SET

Anemone Leaves In Neat Design

TN this attractive design of anemone leaves worked on cream or any coloured linen, are a central mat (20iu. x 15in.), C place mats (lain, x lOin.) and square napkins bin. square. These require 36 skeins of various

coloured embroidery silks. Use four strands throughout the work. The mats here designed were worked on pale green linen, embroidered with long and short, firmly-edged buttonhole stitch. The centres of the anemones were worked in french knots. When finished, the mats were pressed, the design cut away wi£h sharp scissors, aud all the ends cut neatly. When pressed face downward on a blanket the needlework showed colourfully on pale green linen. One colour scheme chosen was: Central mat, rose-red anemones; place mats, rose pink; napkins, bluish shades. All leaves were dark green, and all outside borders pale yellow. The borders inside were light green and bluish purple formed the centres of the anemones.
