Harvest for Hotels and Accommodation Houses Dominion Special Service. t’alinei'stoii North, March 30. The Easter holidays saw the greatest harvest for hotelkeepers and proprietors of apartment and lodging houses that has been experienced for at least ten years. The rush was not confined to I’almerston North with its various annual gatherings, but was general right up to Napier and beyond. Not only were the larger towns booked right out on Saturday morning, but every available room in the smaller intervening townships was taken bv persons who were unable to secure accommodation in the main centres. There were people at Feilding races on Saturday who were unable to book in anywhere at Wanganui that morning, and were going to trv their luck at I’almerston North in the evening. Some were successful in getting scratch accoinniodation : others engaged in investigating by telephone of the resources of places like Marton. Ashhurst. Feilding, and so on. where they were equally unlucky. Many moved on to the south and into the country in other directions on the off. chance of a bed. Money was spent as freely as at Christmas. and the bar trade of hotels right throughout the district was brisker than it has been for many Easter periods-

The extraordinary demand fur camping ftpace experienced at Napier camping grounds during Easter demonstrated th<‘ wisdom of the move which resulted m the establishment of additional camping grounds at Marewa township. All through the holiday period their ears have been in constant demand, and day and night calls were mafle.foi them practically continuously. One driver stated that sleep was practically out ot the question during the past few days, and meals had to be snatched by bites between attending to calls.
