LOW OPINION German Experts’ View of Italian Army EVIDENCE IN SPAIN Testing of Modern Weapons and Methods OWN FLEET DISAPPOINTS By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. The diplomatic correspondent of the ‘•Manchester Guardian” says as a result of a close study of the Spanish conflict German military experts have come to an exceedingly low opinion of the Italian army. Germany regards the campaign as “an experimental laboratory for the testing of modern weapons and methods.” The experts concluded:— First, that German anti-aircraft artillery is altogether satisfactory. Secondly, that the German aeroplanes have not stood the test so well, although opinions are divided as to whether it is the pilots or the machines which are inferior to the Russian. Thirdly, that German light tanks arcvery serviceable but inadequate for attacking strongly fortified positions. Fourthly, that the German fleet is disappointing. . .
