ANNUAL BALL

Collegiate Old Boys A large number of visitors from all parts of the North Island attended the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys’ Association’s annual ball, which was held in the “big school” at the college on Monday night The school colours and colours of the various houses were prominently brought into the decorations. Several rooms were arranged as sitting-out lounges, and in the dininghall, where a delicious supper was served, (he tables were arrayed with many beautiful flowers, in blue and gold shades. Mr. F. W. Gilligan, the beadmaster, and Mrs. Gilligan, were the host and hostess, and received the guests in the entrance hall. Mesdames D. Earle H. E. B. Newton and E. G. Roddy were responsible for the table decorations, and Mesdames J. Goss, E. Richardson and G. Burgess for the supper arrangements. Miss Mongomery Moore arranged the room for bridge.

The men’s committee included Messrs. FI. E. Bernau, J. Goss, H. Goss, G. Burgess, E. Richardson, J. McFarlane, K. and R. Handley, J. B. Turner, L. Donovan, W. Grumitt and I. Taiboys. There were five debutantes, Misses Kathleen Barton, Lindsay Barston. Madeleine Smith (Taihape), Beryl Fitzherbert (Taihape) and Beatrice King.
