Mr. Henry Pegram, Sculptor

(Received March 28, 7.30 p.m.) London, March 27. The death has occurred of Mr. Henry Pegram, the noted sculptor. Henry Pegram was born at London in 1862. His principal works include sculpture for Oriel college; public statues of Sir Thomas Browne, at Norwich; Sir John Logan Campbell, at Auckland, New Zealand; Cecil Rhodes, at Cape Town; Sir Robert Hart, at Shanghai; monument to Nurse Cavell at Norwich; busts of Earl Jellicoe, Dean Inge, Lord Allenby and Lord Dawson. Mr. George A. Luoni The death occurred yesterday of Mi. George A. Luoni, proprietor of the Royal Hotel, Palmerston North, states a Special Service message. Mr. Luoni, who was 48 years of age, was well known in sporting circles. He was a returned soldier. There will be Requiem Mass to-morrow morning at St. Patrick’s Church. Mr. Duncan Mackintosh

The death of Mr. Duncan Mackintosh, chairman of the Wanganui County Council and president of the Wanganui Agricultural Association, occurred on Thursday afternoon at his residence, “Dunkeld,” Warrengate Line, 'Wanganui, states a “Dominion” Special Service message. Mr. Mackintosh, who was 62 years of age, had been working in the sheepyards, and, feeling unwell, had set out for the house with the intention of resting. He collapsed on the way and died within an hour. Mr. Mackintosh came to New Zealand from Inverness, Scotland, when but a lad with his parents and two brothers, Alex and Angus. The family first settled at Okoia, later leased Gordon Park and finally took up “Blythwood,” a property situated in the apex formed by the junction of the No. 1 and Warrengate Lincs. Mr. Duncan Mackintosh eventually took over that property. He succeeded his brother Alex as chairman of the Wanganui County Council in 1929. Two years ago he was elected president to the Wanganui Agricultural Association. He is survived by a widow, two sons (Ronald and John) and two daughters (Ema and Win). He is also survived by a sister, Miss Grace Mackintosh, Wanganui. The funeral, which took place on Saturday afternoon at the Aramoho Cemetery, was attended by representatives of all sections of the community. There were over 100 cars in the cortege.
