Five on Wellington Easter Programmes No fewer than live theatres in Wellington will screen products of Universal Studios on their Easter programmes, including one new release which i« on its way to a record run, and several films which are embarking on return seasons, which, from their previous receptions, should find popular favour. “Tlu'ce Smart Girls” at St. James. The comedy, "Three Smart Girls.” which marks the film debut of the most surprising “discovery” in many seasons, lhe J-Byear-old soprano Deanna Durbin, is now entering the fourth week of its season at. the St. James 'Theatre. It is bright, clean comedy all the way, with several musical interludes by the goldenvoiced Deanna, who is supported by a talented cast, including Charles Winninger (“Captain Andy” of "Show Boat”), Alice Brady ("Mrs. Bullock” of “Aly Alan Godfrey”). Binnic Barnes, Barbara Read, and Nan Grey. "Show Boat” at Paramount. The latest screen version of Edna Ferber’s "Show Boat” is to screen at the Paramount Theatre. The well-loved story of life on the Alississippi needs no recapitulation, but the new version is produced more elaborately than ever before, and is graced by three outstanding singers. Irene Dunne, Paul Robeson, and Allan Jones. “Girl on the Front I'age” at De Luxe. In conjunction with “Keep Your Seats Please,” a comedy featuring George Fonnby, Florence Desmond, aud Harry Tate, the Universal comedy romance, "The Girl ou the Front Page” will screen at the De Luxe Theatre. Edmund Lowe and Gloria Stuart are starred in a story of a woman who inherits a newspaper and an editor who declines to work along her lines.
