INFANTILE PARALYSIS
First Case in Poverty Bay District By Telegraph—Press Association Gisborne, March 26. The first case of infantile paralysis in Poverty Bay is reported from No. 2 railway construction camp, six miles past Bartlett’s and 26 miles from Gisborne. The victim is a six-year-old girl who is slightly paralysed in one leg. She was taken to .he Cook Hospital and is progressing favourably. ANOTHER OTAGO CASE By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, March 25. A positive case of infantile paralysis, a boy aged eight years, has been admitted to the Balclutha Hospital from Warepa.. NO FURTHER CASES AT HASTINGS Dominion Special Service. Hastings, March 25. No further cases of infantile paralysis were admitted to-day and the position is regarded as entirely satisfactory. All cases are beginning to respond to treatment, and three cases are still being treated as suspects. The feeling is that the continued spell of fine, dry weather is sustaining the outbreak, and that a period of sharp frosts would greatly assist in its quelling. In the meantime an appeal is made to the public not to relax vigilance during the holiday season, when it may be possible for children to congregate.
