Oxford’s University Boat Race Victory

London, March 24. In the University boat race, which was won by Oxford for the first time since 1923, by three lengths in a magnificent race, Cambridge had the advantage of the Surrey side. After a false start the boats raced necjf and neck. Cambridge was a canvas ahead at Fulham, but the boats were level at Craven Steps. Oxford led by a quarter of a length at the mile post. There was little difference between them at. Harrods, and at the end of two miles Cambridge was just ahead at Chiswick Eyot, but Oxford drew level. Oxford then went out and had a clear leji'd at Barnes Bridge. The time was 22min. 39sec., the slowest since 1877. Despite a gruelling race, neither crew was very distressed at the finish.
