AFTERNOON PARTY

A Farewell and an Anniversary

A happy party was held in the D.I.C. tea-room on Thursday when Mrs. Frank Paul entertained a number of friends at afternoon tea, the guest of honour being Miss E. Paul, who will sail by the Arawa to-night for England. Mr. and Mrs. Paul also were the recipients of warm congratulations as the occasion marked the 40th anniversary of their wedding. A table, attractively arranged with pink flowers and rosebud sprays for the guests, was set by the window of the tearoom. An amusing competition was won by Mr. AV. G. Harrison.

The hostess wore a smart black Parisian silk coat and a black velour hat, while her daughter was in navy and white figured silk crepe, with navy coat and fur felt hat.

The guests were Mr. and Mrs. F. 11. B. Paul, Mr. Frank Paul, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Harrison, Mrs. Al. R. Macaulay, Mrs. R. L. C. Aitcheson and Miss N. Macaulay (Palmerston North), Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Lonnie, Mrs. Philps, Mrs. Storey, Mrs. E. Edgar (Christchurch), Miss K. Paul, Miss E. Kay, Miss E. Emerson, Miss Kohn and Miss Taylor.

The “Delineator” stresses tlie three important silhouettes for this year, the “Tunic,” “Swing-Skirt,” and the “Empire Line.” Each of these styles emphasises. your figure differently. Thus the “Tunic” calls for a perfect waist-line, the “Swing-Skirt” demands trim moulded hips, and the "Empire” a long smooth silhouette. The photograph above is a perfect garment to wear under the “Tunic.” The actual waist-line isn’t a “line" at all! It’s a curve! Starting under the bust, incurving naturally, it rounds into the hip-line without any sharp break. Berlei fashioned it in smooth satin with concealed boning for extra support. The dainty lace brassiere accents the long bust to knee line. Both are published by arrangement with Berlei.
