One Easter Morn . . .
The long-eared rabbits down in the glade, Are playing and frisking, unafraid. The chimes of the bells ring sweet and clear, The soft, fluffy chickens seem to peer From the tops of their eggs with eyes that see The happy scene of fun and glee. Hot cross buns all brown and shiny, Chocolate eggs and children tiny, There in the shade I lay on the grass And heard their laughter come am) pass. < I saw them open the door with glee To behold the gay and lively spree. A rabbit lolloped across the croft, And I plucked a blade and murmured soft, “God keep and guard them many a year, And grant them always such Easter cheer.” —Original, by Lofty (14), Wellington.
