WHITE EASTER
Who come light-foot through the
dawning. White-winged, white-faced in the morning. Thronging o’er the dew-sweet grass; Shadowy and glad with mirth By th e lilies stirring, stilting, Easter lilies, silver, swaying, Heavy with the sacrifice of earth? Are they angels white and winging? Surely that is angel-singing? Singing—words so deep with meaning, Words so bright with mirth. "Christ is risen, Christ is ilsen, Join ye in our joyous paean. King with happiness, ye earth! For even earth is tilled with meaning; See how trees grow, bare in winter, Dead. And yet the coming spring Awakes their hearts to everything. So He I’ises, rises, rises, Heaven be glad, and all earth sing!” Who come light-foot through tile dawning, White-winged, white-faced in the morning, By the lilies faint and dim. Gladly, all their voices telling Songs of Him? For Easter Page, by Mary Greig (16), Wanganui.
