A WONDER YACHT
Most Luxurious in Britain
Mr. T. O. M. Sopwith, the millionaire British challenger for the America Cup, is having built the most luxurious yacht ever known for a private owner in Britain.
The yacht is the 1614-ton Philante, 240 ft. in length. She will cost about £250,000.
Philante’s first duty will be as “tender” for Endeavour 11, Mr. Sopwith’s new racing yacht. Guests —there is room for 50—will find such liner-like luxuries as a tilelined swimming pool, a gymnasium, a hospital, a ballroom and a cocktail bar. There will ,be a crew of 35.
Each cabin will have its own bathroom and shower bath, and some their own sitting-rooms as well. Some rooms will be decorated in modern style, others in period. Under the boat deck there will be a promenade deck with sliding panels of sun-ray glass.
There will be golf practice nets on dock-.
Delivery of the complete yacht will prob, ably be made in Juno. This is .Mr. Sopwith’s tenth vacht in 10 years. He has spent £1,000.000 on them.
