EXCURSION TO PICTON
Rangatira on Monday A last opportunity this season of taking a day trip to Pieton will be afforded by the Rangatira’s excursion on Monday, which is timed to leave Wellington at 8 a.m. from the steamer express wharf. The Rangatira should arrive at Pieton about half-past ten. the run from heads to heads taking approximately an hour and a quarter. The rest of the time will be spent in the sheltered waters of M ellington Harbour and of Tory Channel and Queen Charlotte Sound. There are a number of beautiful spots at Picton at which to picnic, and during the day special launches will run to Toren Bay, Onahau Bay and Thompsons’ Bay. Lunch will be obtainable at the accommodation houses at these bays, necessitating to the two former places a walk of a mile over the hill, which is compensated for by the beautiful view obtained. For those who wish to go to Blenheim a train will leave Pieton at 10.50 a.m., returning before the vessel leaves again for Wellington. The Rangatira will leave Picton again for the return trip at 2.30 p.m., arriving shortly after 5 p.m.
