ASSESSOR RETIRES
Income Tax Department Presentation Members of the staff <>f the Land and Income Tax Department recently assembled to bid farewell to Mr. \y. 11. Phillips, one of the senior section assessors, who is retiring after a service of 31 years in the department. The Commissioner of Taxes, Mr, C. ft Howland, in making a presentation.' referred to the excellent service and loyalty rendered by Mr. Phillips to the department. lh‘ thanked him for the valuable advice and help which he had given at all times to all members of the staff, pnrtieularlv to the juniors, and he wished Mr. a.ud Mrs. Phillips the best of health and happiness for many years to come. 1 he ietnarks ot the commissioner were summrted by the Deputy-Commissioner of Taxes, Mr. Park, the chief assessor. Mr. 11. 11. Young, and Mr. 11. £. Barron. Mr. Phillips saiil he was sorry to sever bis active association with the department, but Im was happy to leave with the knowledge that any actions of his had been so generously appreciated. He felt that: he would greatly miss the many friends he was forced to leave behind.
