Six Galloping Meetings and Two Trotting Fixtures To-day A.J.C. MEETING TO OPEN AT RANDWICK The racing carnival associated with Easter commences throughout the Dominion to-day. Galloping meetings will be held at Auckland, Feilding, Wairarapa, Greymouth, Riverton and Tuapeka, with trotting at Hawera and Christchurch. The racing will be continued on Monday, when additional meetings will be held. In Auckland, as usual, the main interest will centre in the Easter Handicap. Excellent acceptances have been received for both fixtures. The Australian Jockey Club’s autumn meeting will also open to-day. The principal events are the Doncaster Handicap, Sires’ Produce Stakes and St. Leger Stakes. The Sydney Cup will be run on Monday. The weather forecast is not exactly favourable. Both at Feilding and Wairarapa the tracks will be .-in excellent order tinless rain falls.

WAIRARAPA FIELDS

Fourteen Acceptors In Easter Handicap GOOD RACING LIKELY (By The Watcher.) The Wairarapa meeting always attracts a large IV ellington attendance, quite apart from the racing angle, as the picturesque surroundings play a prominent part from the picnic point of view. Extra facilities have been provided in this direction. The keen racegoers will also have plenty to sharpen their wits upon. Fields are excellent, the best the club has had for years, and the issues in most cases are very open. Tauherenikau is a track that favours smart horses and good beginners, which is a point to remember when all other form looks even. Betting will be on the single pool system (Jo-25). . The road for motorists is m first-class </d.'r? and trains will leave Lambton to-day at 7.50 and 8.43, returning at 5.20 and 7.28. The same trains will be available on Monday, but the second departure on the return journey will be 7.15. The Masterton train will leave for Featherston at 7.40, and the rail-car leaves Woodville at 8.5. The card is as follows: —

MAIDEN PLATE, of £l4O. Six furlongs.

Gay Artist ..8 7 There is not much maiden form. The best is that of Good Sun at Trentham, and Gay Artist at Pahiatua. Tupai and Haupangi are possibilities. The favourites may be Gay Artist and Good Sun.

12 25— MOKAI HANDICAP, ot £200; minimum

This is the best sprint field the club has had for a long time. On Wellington running, Deficit, who finished fourth to Gold Boa, should have a chance if he improves. Lavina. Solaria, Flammarion, Lady Ina and Blygain are all possibilities. Favourites may be Lavina and Deficit.

EASTER HANDICAP, of £5OO. One mile aud a quarter.

Friesland failed on the track at New Tear and his tendency to drift early will not be in bis favour. Lowenberg will have to improve on his last showings, but Big Dook, Pukeko, Tiger Gain, Hazoor Master Cyklon. Kona Bay. Debham and Helen Ford are all possibilities on form. The favourites may bo Big Dook and Pukeko, and though Tiger Gain has not run lately the principle of “horses for courses applies firmly in his case if he is in form. Debham is an unlikely starter.

wahTarapa NURSERY HANDICAP. of £l5O. Five furlongs.

The form two-year-olds are Son and Heir and Girl Pat, but their form is not out of the ordinary. Royal Tinge and Parinui may improve on Pahiatua showings, and Accomplice has racing condition. though moderate form. The lutourites may be Sou and Heir and Girl Pat.

to recommend him. while Earl Colossus, Captain Tudor, Lord Quick, Seyfried and Southern Blood should be possibilities. Captain Tudor was lame at Stratford, but provided it is nothing serious he should show up. Skyway may be a visiting possibility. The best backed may be Captain Tudor and Seyfried (or Lord Quick). 3.10— NEWMARKET HACK HANDICAP, of A! 150. Six furlongs. Export ... 9 0 Alunga 1 13 Kotouia ... Friesland . 913 Da recourt . » 1 Master Cyklon 8 9 Lordly Knight S O Boomerang . 8 3 Sansfoy ••• 1 }•> Pennycome- Bun Fight .. 713 quick 8 1 Free Rose ‘9 Friesland’s chance may be better here in a smaller Held. Master Cyklon, Boomerang, Pennycomequick, Darecourt and Sansfoy should all run well. The best backed may be Sansfoy and Friwlaud. 4.30— FERRY HACK HANDICAP, of £loo.

Diamond Cutter (incl. rehep.) 8 1 , Nelumbu looks the probable favourite on Trentham form, but Collodion. Ru*jtein, Colleen Gain, Diamond Cutter and Alunga will all be hard to beat. The best backed may be Nelumbo and Rustem. There are no brackets on the day’s card.

AT FEILDING

Fifteen in the Cup FORM AND PROSPECTS (By The Watcher.) Very satisfactory fields' are engaged for the opening of the Feilding meeting, with a particularly good lot in the Feilding Cup. Smart horses also hold an advantage on this course, but it is a good track and the going is excellent at present. Betting will be on the 75-25 system, and with au electric totalisator, the club is able to handle a large volume of betting with facility. The card is as follows:— Noon — KAWA KAMA HURDLES, of £l5O. One mile and a half and 130 yards. Mauawatu .11 8 Indiscretion . 0 3 Lord True Shaft . U 2 Hereford 10 13 Otaki 0 - Bazaine ... 10 0 Chief Emerald 9 0 Hunting Queen 0 13 King Pluto . 9 0 luvietus .. 012 Royal Munie 9 0 Lord Hereford aud Bazaine are the form hurdlers, with King Pluto aud Chief Emerald possibilities. Hunting Queen has not had reecut racing over hurdles, but her initial showings were very promising. The favourites may be Hunting Queen and Bazainc. ONgV hack HANDICAP, of £l5O. Six furlongs. The hack sprint held contains a host of good and even form and a surprise may eventuate. The bracket is assured of support after their Stratford form. Erebus particularly. Silver Hose, The Bigot, Jazz Boy. Imposture, Dancing Lady, Flying Chief and Corroboree are all possibilities. The best-backed may be the Erebus-Eara bracket and The Bigot. 1.20— FEILDING CUP, of £5OO. One mile and a quarter. The form of Grand Jury and Lapel might not be good enough, but The Buzzer should be prominent. and Royal Secret's effort at Stratford on Saturday last was good. She will meet Taitoru 71b. better on handicaps. Alby. Round Score and Maestro are form prospects. Favourites may be The Buzzer and Royal Secret. "'MAIDEN STAKES, of £llO. ONEPLTII BACK HANDICAP, of £2OO. Minimum weight, 7.11. One mile and a distance. Catalogue . 9 6 Happy Reipar .... 8 1.3 Hunting 713 Sanhedrim ..8 1 Vonia Park . 7 ” War Lap ... 8 1. I’uroto .... 7 H The two improvers at the top of the handicap will command most attention. It is impossible to deny Sanhedrin, M ar Lap and Vonia Park chances, but they are not in quite the same class. Catalogue meets Reipar 81b. better than ar 1 rentham, but on the way the latter won there, and again at Stratford, backers may not consider it enough to enable him to reverse the order.

Entail showed a return to bis best. form at Trentham, and if he repeats it he should be hard to heal. Jubilee Song is a useful horse in this class of event, and Hunting Lodge must have a chance. Beau Gallante, International and Airing should be possibilities. The best backed may be Hunting Lodge and Jubilee Song.
