COOL STORES FIRE
Loss For Orchardists of Victoria (Received March. 27, 12.30 a.m.) Melbourne, March 26. Damage estimated at £50,000 was done by a fir.e which destroyed the premises of the Orchardists Cool Stores Company at Doncaster, 20 miles from Melbourne, to-day. Forty thousand cases of apples and pears weye burnt. About 200 fruitgrowers are heavy losers. Fifty firemen fought the blaze. 'The fruit destroyed, valued at eight shillings a case, totalled £l6OO. Much was uninsured. One grower lost 1500 uninsured cases. The building and plant were insured for £40,000.
