Cosmetic Mind-Healing
TJEAUTIF.ICATION of female patients at the Illinois State Hospital for the Insane proved so effective in helping restore their mental balance that a separate building has been set aside for the purpose. The patients make appointments for beauty treatments at the new parlour just as women do in the world outside. In a room lined with mirrors, expert “beauticians" use the new beautifying devices. Dr. Robert Smith, superintendent of the institution, explained the success of tlie idea thus: “When you get a woman to look into a mirror and see that her face is prettier, she’s feeling bettor and takes a new interest in life." —New York ’‘Times.”
