Girl into Holstein
I lERE S a lady who goes to a millinery shop and says to the girl who waits on her, “Make me beautiful and very truly run after, by five o’clock this afternoon.” A somewhat twisted quotation from Mr. Kipling, perhaps, but the lady s idea is somewhat twisted, too. She happens to be a person with a little too
much jaw and nose, and could do nicely with a hat with a brim. But no. she turns down all the brimmed hats that the salesgirl brings her, and insists on buying the piquant little black chapeau with a felt twist that sticks out like a couple of horns. The effect, along with the black and white dress, is just a shade reminiscent of a Holstein —quite a little too much so for perfect enchantment.
