Canadian Union Desires Tour SUGGESTION NOT FAVOURED The management committee or" the New Zealand Rugby Union met last night, the chairman. Mr. S. S. Dean, presiding. Also present were Messrs. F. Glasgow, W. J. Wallace, LieutenantColonel J. G. Roache. A. McDonald, King! Tahiwi (Maori Advisory Board), A. E. Nelson, secretary. An apology was received from the Hon. J. McLeod. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Colonel G. F. C. Campbell was carried. The Rugby Union of Canada wrote asking whether the New Zealand Union would consider a tour by a team from that Dominion in the near future. The letter stated the union considered it had sufficient material for the purpose. Canada had a tentative invitation from England, but this had not yet been worked out. The meeting resolved to recommend to the annual meeting that in view of the standard of play in Canada, no action be taken.

'The secretary’s reply to the Wanganui union in the following terms was confirmed: That the committee regretted its inability to arrange for a match against the South African team (o be played at Wanganui. When the Australian four was being arranged it was understood that Wanganui would have a game against the Australians, and not against the South Africans the following year. With respect to the union's inquiry regarding the North v. South match, the reply was that this game would be one of the series of trial games, and in that case would have to be played at the centre where the trial games were staged. New Sub-union. The secretary reported t hat a letter from a body of men at Aniseed Creek who desired to form a sub-union was forwarded to the Canterbury and Marlborough unions. These unions were informed that the committee wished every facility to be given for the new sub-union to be formed, and for it. to affiliate witn either the Canterbury or the Marlborough union. As the locality was astride the boundary between the two unions it would be necessary for them to decide between themselves under which union the new sub-union should play. What action the committee proposed with respect to the reversion to tjm old kick-into-touch rule was an inquiry from the Otago union. The secretary was instructed to advise Otago that this matter would be decided by the annual meeting on April 21. It was pointed out that only one Saturday of club matches would have been played under the amended rule before the annual meeting.

Mr. E. McKenzie. Wairarapa, notified that he would be attending the Marist Spillane Cup tournament at Palmerston North during Easter as a New Zealand selector.

Applications from the following players in the Horowhenfia union for reinstatement were granted: H. Te Hana, R. Te Hana. John Huff, Alfred Cook, L. Barrett, P. Ropata.
