Through the bursting of the 21-inch water-main opposite the Masonic Halt on Wellington Terrace at tin early hour yesterday morning there was a rather serious wash-away of the high bank on the city side of the Terrace. The power of the water as it. escaped from the broken main was such that it carried away a large portion from the face of Hie hank. This fell at the rear of the premises of Messrs. S. S. Williams and Co.. Ltd., furnishers. With the constant How of water under pressure the spoil was soon transformed into liquid mud, ami this found an entrance into the show-rooms through a skylight at Hie back, spreading over the ground tloor, which was heavily stocked with furniture.
