After flying over a large area of heavily bushed mountainous country in South Westland, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, takes •i serious view of the deer menace there. "It is a problem to .tackle them in such inaccessible country.” said Mr. Parry. Huge numbers, he was reliably informed, roamed the country, destroying the bush undergrowth. One man bad killed over 400 this year. Tlie danger was that the deer would make their way to places of scenic attraction and destroy beautiful trees. The job of killing them off in numbers in such country was colossal, but it bad to be tackled.
