WOE TO ASSASSINS
General Goering’s Warning
Berlin, March 16.
Commemorating the second anniversary of Herr Hitler’s introduction of conscription, the Minister of Air, General Goering, made the first public reference to the danger of assassination of Herr Hitler and his associates. He declared : ‘‘l say to all who see a last chance of overthrowing Germany in murder and desperate attemps on our lives that the passionate love of the entire people forms a wall of defence around the leader and his trusted followers. Woo to him who plays with fire.” All stations broadcast General Goering’s speech, but the official news agency omitted this portion.
