Main Bursts in Willis Street.—At about noon yesterday a fire hydrant on the water main just opposite to the entrance to the Y.M.C.A. building, in Upper Willis Street, Wellington, burst. A spout of water shot some thirty feet into the air, providing an interesting spectacle for the crowd which quickly gathered. The water, rushing down the gutters and tramlines, quickly reached Manners Street, Lower Willis Street and Mercer Street. This picture was taken shortly before officials stopped the flow by shutting off valves to isolate the area.
