Layer Cake Lady

A RATHER broad lady so often seems to think, for some strange reason, that she will achieve grace and slenderness of effect by dividing her figure up into crosswise sections. One of her favourite costume choices is the tunic dress. The blouse subdivided by the belt makes two layers of her. The skirt, which

protrudes beneath the edge of the tunic, makes the last layer. And so she looks like a nice broad layer cake. A lady can make almost any kind of cake of herself according to the colour of her dress. When the dress is of brown crepe or satin, the chocolate layer cake effect is complete. Vanilla and strawberry impressions can be as easily achieved. Now, cakes are all'very well in their place on a plate—but they should be inanimate. And, really, they shouldn't be met on the highway, stalking about in a pair of shoes and with a hat on.
