JAPANESE ATHLETES
Wellington Appearance The appearance of the two Japanese athletes, K. Murakoso and K. Toga mi. who did so well at the Olympic Games at Berlin las-t year, at the Basin Rer-erve. Wellington, on Saturday, is attracting much public interest. The Japanese are outstanding athletes, as they have proved by their performances on the New Zealand tour. Murakoso bus twice beaten the New Zealand three miles record, and on Tuesday created new figures Jor tvo miles. To show his calibre if is only necessary to state that hr will concede the Wellington champion, A. J. Mackay, 230 yards start in the three miles on Saturday, while J. Riddington will be on the 250 yards mark. Murakoso will start in the three miles and one mile, and Togami will compete in the high jump, long jump, and hop, step and jump. It will be interesting to see how the New Zealand long jump champion. T. J. Crowe, will compare with him. Besides the Japanese. Wellington's lending athletes will appear on Saturday. Among these will be J. M. Watt, who finished second in the quiirlcr-niile at the New Zealand championship meeting at Auckland; L. Black, Wellington’s halfmile champion, mid C. Robinson, Wellington sprint champion. The first race will,start at 2.30 p.m. Murakoso and Togami arrived from Napier yesterday afternoon and are staying ut tile Grand Hotel. They will attend at the n.-itaitai Recreation Ground from 5 to 6 this afternoon, where they will be pleased to give local athletes instruction in the technique of running and jumping.
