Results of Trophy Challenges TARANAKI TOURNEY (By Penultimate.) Fixtures. t Gold and Silver Mallets, Hamilton, now in progress. March 27—Cambridge Laster tournament, Cambridge. Inter-dub Matches. Practically all inter-club matches have now been played, and many clubs are busy with championship doubles and handicap doubles, these matches having been delayed by the unsettled weather. It is important that they be played as soon as possible.

Pollock Stars. The thirteenth round for uie lollock Stars was played on Tuesday, when Mesdames Robertson and Allen, of Scatoun club, challenged the holders, Mesdames Brice and Richardson (Hataitai). All players found the lawns heavy, and the visitors were unable to get the Strength. Being accustomed to playing on a smaller lawn, they failed to get positions at the hoops. The long shooting of both Mesdames Brice and Richardson was outstanding. The final score was 26-1- in favour of (he Hataitai players. Mrs. Ramsay (Wellington) was the referee. The final round for the season will probably be played next week, when the challengers will be Island Bay club. Association Ferns.

The twelfth round for the Association Ferns was played last week, when Mesdames Harner and Steel (Karori) challenged the holders, Mesdames J. Miller and Kerr (Ngaroma). The latter pair are very strong and have withstood five challenges, but last week they were off their long shooting, which allowed the visitors to obtain a good lead. All players found the lawns heavy ajid no big breaks were made. Toward the end of the game the Ngaroma players picked up considerably, and unfortunately for them gave their opponents a baulk ball, with another ball on the baulk, and with that the visitors were able to finish the game. The score was 26-20 in favour of Karori. Mrs. Fairlie was the referee. The next club to challenge is Doburn.

King Brooches. The King Brooches have provided an interesting competition among the Hutt and Petone clubs this season. Mesdames August and Sutcliffe (Woburn) have held them for five successive challenges, but on Monday Mesdames A. Miller and McAddam defeated the holders by eight points. All players found the lawns very keen, no big breaks being made.

Ngaroma Club Social. A pleasant afternoon was spent on the Ngaroma club’s lawns on Friday, when the club members entertained the players who had been successful iu the recent Wellington tournament: Mrs, Sargisson, who won the A grade champion of champions event: Mrs. J. Miller, a winner in the handicap doubles and runner-up in the junior level singles and the intermediate champion of champions: and Mrs. Mitchell, winner of the handicap singles, second section. Half-hour games were played during the afternoon. Following afternoon tea, the president, Mrs. Fairlie. congratulated the visitors on their excellent play during the tournament, and presented each with a gift from the members of the dub as a memento of the occasion. A presentation was also made to Mr. F. Laurie for his valuable assistance on the green committee. The winners of the competitions were as follows: —Mrs. Sargisson. 1; Mrs. McHattie, 2. Consolation : Mr. F. Laurie.

Central Entertain Ngaroma. The members of Central Croquet Club entertained the members of Ngaroma Croquet Club recently. Competitions were held on the lawns iu the morning, but: owing to rain in the afternoon competitions were held in the pavilion. Afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs. Fairlie, Ngaroma president, thanked the Central members for their hospitality and congratulated Mrs. Ridley, captain of Central club, on her success in the recent tournament. Mrs. Ridley won the senior level singles event and the handicap singles, section one. Winners of the progressive croquet competitions were Mesdames Warner, Broekelbauk, and May; afternoon competitions, Mesdames Roberts and J. Miller. The president, -Mrs. Fox, on behalf of Central members, presented Mrs. Ridley with a pair of crystal vases. Taranaki Tournanieiit.

'l'be annual Taranaki eroquet tournament. was concluded at New Plymouth on Friday. The weather was all that could be desired for croquet and some excellent play was seen. Following are the results: Open championship: Captain F. L. Hartnell; runner-up, Mrs. Skeet. Women’s championship: Mrs. Tingey; runner-up, Mrs. Ward.

Handicap singles: Mrs. D. C. Henderson: runner-up, Mrs. Peddy. Championship doubles: A. J. Gibbs and Mrs. Tingey; runners-up, Captain F. L. Hartnell and Mrs. Henderson.

Hamlieap doubles: Mesdames Honeyfield and Ward; runners-up, J. M. Clague and S. Barrow.

Level singles: Mrs. Ward; runner-up, Mrs. Cooper. Handicap singles: Section 2, Mr. Barrow; runner-up, Mr. Dunn. Personals.

Mesdames Henderson and Hogan (Wellington) have returned home after taking pari in the tournament at New Plymouth.

Mrs. Thornton (Wellington) and Mrs. Telford (Hataitai) have returned to IVellington after faking part in the New Plymouth tournament.

Mrs. Pollock (Wellington) has returned home after spending three months in the South Island.
