BOYS’ INSTITUTE
Mr. B. A. Mabin Appointed Director The appointment of Mr. B. A. Mabin, as director of the Wellington Boys’ Institute and S. and A. Rhodes Home for Boys, was announced yesterday. Mr. Mabin will succeed Mr. AV. Happer, who recently resigned after three years’ service. Mr. Mabin will enter the position with a wide experience in boys’ work which should prove valuable. For several years he was boys' work director of the Y.M.C.A. at Wellington, and also at Auckland. A visit to America gave him an opportunity of making a close and extensive study of methods adopted in boys' work in that country. For several years past Mr. Mabin has been prominently associated with various sporting organisations in an honorary capacity. Cricket has received a great deal of attention from him. and in this sport he has done much good work in developing young players. He is probably best known, however, as secretary of the Wellington Football Association, a position he has held for 11 years.
Mr. Mabin will take up his new duties almost, immediately.
