Inter-faculty Sports at Auckland By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 17. Several records were broken and one equalled at the annual inter-faculty sports of Auckland University College. In the 440 yards hurdles championship 11. D. Ball registered 56 4-ssec„ lowering the record by 1 3-ssec. The winner of the high jump, D. Chadwick, cleared sft. 11 3-Sin. This was three-eighths of an inch higher than P. H. Hackett’s record last year. The record for the mile was lowered from 4.37 1-5 to 4.36 3-5 by T. R. Johnston. With an effort of 21ft. Ilin, in the broad jump, H. K. Brainsby equalled his own record. A record for the 220 yards hurdles was created by P. T. Bowie, his time being 25 l-ssec. Another win was scored by Ball in the 440 yards championship, his time being 53sec. The 100 yards contest was won by P. W. Day in 10 4-ssec and the 220 yards by Hoskins in 23 2-5 sec. The three-mile event resulted in an easy win for R. C. Haszard in 16.5. The following team has been selected to represent Auckland at the New Zealand inter-university tournament at Christchurch at Easter: 100 yards, W. «. Miller, P. W. Day; 220 yards, W. G. Miller, J. B. Prendergast; shot putt, M. J. McHugh, 11. S. Hammond; relay, H. D. Ball (880 yards), D. Sharkey (440 yards), J. Harrison and W. D. Miller (220 yards). A. Smith, three miles; Chapman, one mile walk. The boxers are: Vosailagi ( heavyweight); Kean (light-heavyweight); Rutherford (middleweight): Foley (welterweight) ; Adams (lightweight); Tuckcy (featherweight); McGoorge (bantamweight).
