Strong opposition Io any concession in fees being made to Public Works Department employees who received attention nt the board’s institutions was expressed by several members at a recent meeting of the Marlborough Hospital Board, when a proposal was received from the North Canterbury Hospital Board .suggesting an agreement between the two boards to provide hospital treatment to the men, together with their wives and families, employed on the South Island Main Trunk railway on the contribution of a small weekly payment. It was considered by the opponents of the idea that the men were already getting higher wages than the average worker, and that such a concession would be most unjust, ft was decided to reply Io the North Canterbury hoard that the .Marlborough board would not :)<•■ cepl. less than 5/- a day under the scheme.
