HOUSING SCHEME IN HUTT VALLEY
State Purchase of Land Included in the area of about 1300 acres of Hutt Valley land, advertised in yesterday’s “Dominion” as to be taken over under the Public Works Act, 1928, for the purpose of the State housing scheme, are sections on either side of the main road from Park Avenue to Taita Gorge. Notifications to individual owners have not all been issued. The value of the land is £127,340. On the eastern side of the road the whole of the area between the road and the river has been taken, while on the other side the land to be purchased rung back about, a quarter of a mile It was stated yesterday that the projected railway line up the Hutt Valley would run through the area, and that, in taking over the area, this possibility had been allowed for.
