RELIGIOUS SERVICES. LECTURE ON BIBLE TRUTH (God willing), T O O.F. HALL, ALLEN STREET, 1. SUNDAY, AT 7 I’.M. Subject: “HOW SINNERS MAY BE CONVERTED.” “EXCEPT YE BE CONVERTED, AND BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN, YE SHALL NOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.” (Jesus —Matt. 18:3.) The object of this lecture is to show from the Bible that during the present dispensation there can be no God recognised, and therefore true conversion (a turning about), apart from: (1) AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SCRIPTURES. (II Tim. 3:15-17, Acts 20 :32, James 1:21, John 5 :39, I Pet 2:2, Isa. 28 :9-10, Matt. 22:29, Psa. 119:130, Acts 17:11-12.) (2) BELIEF AND FAITH in the promises of God as the result of an understanding of the Scriptures. (Hebs. 11:6, Hebs. 10:38, Roms. 1:16. Roms. 10:17. Mark 16:15-16, I Cor. 1:21, IT Thess. 2:13, John 3:16, John 8:24, Acts 13:39, Gals. 3:6-i. etc.) (3) OBEDIENCE FOLLOWING BELIEF —the first act of which is baptism in water for “the remission of sins.” Thus "faith” is followed by “works.” (James 2 :20. James 2 :26, Mark 16:15-16. Acts 2:38, Acts 8: 35-39, John 15:14, John 14:15. Luke 6:46, Hebs. 5:9. Rev. 22:14.) (4) BEING (after baptism) “A NEW CREATURE” (II Cor. 5:17) by “WALKING IN NEWNESS OF LIFE” (Roms. 6:4), thereby “WORKING OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.” (Phil. 2:12, II Pet. 1:10.) “IF WE WALK TN THE LIGHT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CLEANSETH US FROM ALL SIN.” (I John 1:7.) Questions invited. No collection. If unable to attend, write “Bible Truth,” c/o above hall, for free literature. XB —SEE NEXT WEEK’S “PULPIT MESSAGE” COLUMN FOR REPORT OF ABOVE LECTURE.
