£3,000,000 GEMS ON VIEW
World Diamond. Display King Jtoopold of the Belgians recently opened the diamond exhibition in the two large halls of the Salle des Fetes at Amsterdam. Some of the most wonderful diamonds in existence were on view, representing a value of nearly £3,000,000. One exhibit was a portrait of the King surmounted by a crown of diamonds made up of 1500 stones. The frame was also covered with diamonds. There was one big stone of more than GO carats of the purest bluewhite. There were pink diamonds and a so-called mi-regent stone of 59 carats, also a rarity. A special section contained historical watches set with diamonds, miniatures, antique brooches, chains and bracelets. Several old Antwerp families lent family heirlooms. ’The Diamond Corporation of London sent a remarkable collection of rough stones. Visitors saw cutters and polishers at work aud some of the stones finished at the exhibition were prizes in a lottery,
