The abundance of trout in South Canterbury rivers and streams and the progress made by the acclimatisation society with the hatcheries development was the subject of warm praise by Mr. J. G. Miller, curator of the Masterton fish hatcheries, who is spending a holiday in tlie South Island making a tour of acclimatisation centres. Mr. Miller intends to visit Greenpark next week. “It is really marvellous to see bow well stocked the rivers are,” Mr. Miller s,aid. “The hatcheries in South Cnnterbury, which I inspected when they were first built many years aao, have been improved beyond words. They are beautifully kepi and it Is quite a pleasure to visit the place, but to see the fish in the streams is a real eye-opener.”
