WORSER BAY ROAD

Danger to All Traffic Residents of Worser Bay continue to complain that nothing has been done to put the main road in order, and that it is, for a stretch of about 50 yards, a danger to both motorists and pedestrians. This danger has been allowed to develop through the encroachment of sand on. to the roadway just at the central portion of the bay between the beach and the shops where pedestrian traffic is heaviest. This bank of sand on the seaward side of the road is considered a menace. When a "Dominion” representative inspected the place on Saturday, he not only saw the roadway narrowed to twothirds of its original width, but on one side, half on the road and half on the sand, was a parked motor-car, at the very narrowest part of the road, leaving' barely room for two cars to pass. Residents urge that the bank of sand should at once be removed to make the road reasonably safe during the approaching holiday season. The surface of the road is beginning to show signs of cutting up, and needs attention. Some four years ago the road was given a thin surface as far as Karaka Bay, but, as the traffic is considerable in the summer time, the bitumen has worn through in many places and pot holes are developing particularly on the section between Worser Bay and Karaka Bay.
