Slow Scoring on Hard and Bumpy Wickets On hard and bumpy wickets scoring was slow in the Wellington women’s cricket competition on Saturday afternoon. The best performance was a fine 57 knocked up by H. Buck in the senior grade. Bowling figures were uniformly poor. Results are:— Senior. Technical Old Girls 156 (11. Buck 57, T. Monk 28 not out! beat Y.W.C.A. 60 (O. Whitelaw 34) and 43 for three wickets (Z. Hardie 17 not out). Bowling for Old Girls, N. Sheridan took two for 1-1, P. Sampson three for 20, A. Ell three for 17 and two for 8. For Y.W.C.A., B. Nash took four for 20. E. Page three for 17. Wellington beat Training College by default. Intermediate. Y.W.C.A. 73 (A. Morganti IS) beat Wesley 45 (B. Hopkirk 10). For Y.W.» C. P. McGlenchey took five wickets. Trinity 90 (N. Ransley 25) beat Kilbirnie 87 (J. Hudson 19). Bowling for Kilbirnie, H. Ashenden took four for 14, AL Bennett five for 23. For Trinity, L. Hall took three for 23. Junior. Aitkens 66 (Al. Dumbleton 40) beat Kilbirnie 47 (B. Leight 21). Bowling for Aitkens, J. Barry took seven for 19; for Kilbirnie, Nolan took four for 15. College Old Girls S 6 for five wickets declared (E. Nielson 28 not out, J. Hatcher 20) beat Y.W.C.A. 21 and 41 (E. Jones 11 and 10). Bowling for Old Girls, J. Hatcher took two for 6 and four for 16, D. Hill four for 11 and three for 11, B. Eames two for 0. For Y.W.C.A., L. Stroud took three for 29. Technical Old Girls 159 drew with Woolworths 44 for eight wickets. SCHOOL MATCH DRAWN Wairarapa and Rongotai ! i Dominion Special Service. i Masterton, December 12. The annual cricket, match between the Wairarapa High School and Rongotai College resulted in a draw. In the first day’s play Wai rata pa made 142, and Rongotai lost three wickets for 84. Continuing on Friday, the visitors collapsed badly against excellent bowling _by S_. Slatter, the side being out for 157, 15 runs ahead of their opponents. The only batsmen to reach double figures were ■Holdstock (47), G. Smith (38) and Alexander (21). Bowling for High School, Skitter captured five wickets for 34 runs, and M. Roche four for 35. The borne loam then occupied the crease a second time and declared with their total at 123, this total being mainly due to a fine 67 by T-, Alexted. In their second innings Rongotai had compiled 58 for the loss of three wickets when stumps were drawn.
